Venice Beach California |
Venice Beach is not like anywhere else on earth, with street vendors selling their wares, beautiful waves crashing into golden beaches, and pencils, etc. as far as the eye can see. Originally built in the early 20th century, Venice Beach has undergone many changes and growth in the last century. The founder and builder, Abbot Kinney, has imagined the American version of Venice, Italy, with large canals and ships to bring residents to their destinations. Some of the canals that were originally excavated by Kinney still exist, but which have been converted into beautiful postcard perfect areas.
The beauty of the area meant that many artists had moved to the Venice Coast area and made it their home. Besides the paintings above, there are also murals in almost every building, and even the coast guard tower for the beach has been decorated! Wherever you look, you will see evidence of the artistic community.
Venice Beach is famous for its free-spirited roots. The most famous person in the hippie era to make his home there was Jim Morrison of The Doors, but during that period, almost everyone living in Venice was part of the hippie movement. Gypsies are a big part of the sights in Venice, and so whether you are looking for palms to read or your wealth, you will find what you are looking for in Venice.
It has a long and colorful history that still needs to be changed and added to today - visit Venice and witness the history of its creation!
