New York City That Likes Young People: If you are vacationing in New York City with children you might find that doing all outdoor activities can be very tiring for all involved but through museum after museum may not do tricks for all your children. Children love to do activities that cannot be done by all museums. This is where planning creative outlets for your children during your vacation can have a wonderful impact on everyone's pleasure from the time spent in New York.

In addition, you might find talents that your child has that you have never known before. Some of the most interesting craft opportunities in New York City will be mentioned here. I am sure there are many more who will not be on the list but there are only so many hours on a particular day.

The first store to make my list is based on creative outlets that have shown a rapid increase in popularity over the past few years, painting your own pottery. The name of the shop is The Painted Pot and you are allowed to choose and paint your own pottery. You can even take a pottery wheel class with your little one if you are brave enough but it is very possible that you will have a wonderful time and can bring your artwork home when you return for vacation. Remember that there is a shooting time involved, so do this earlier this week if it will be a list of things you have to do. If not, you must arrange shipment so that your child's creation is sent to you.

For those of you who have musicians who promise, what about a day at the Triple Z Music Recording Workshop? This is a rather expensive trip but your child will get the real studio experience and bring home their music CD at the end of the day. Children will learn about life on both sides of the booth and this is a great idea for older children who have shown genuine interest in music.

If you want to impress your children, take them to the Cloisters, which are a branch of the Metropolitan Museum centered on medieval European art and architecture. Your children will feel as if they have entered a fairy tale. It is also a good idea to see artwork in the Met and also this is one of the child-friendly museums that is not specifically designed for children.

You should also know shops such as Toys R Us in Times Square and FAO Schwarz, each of which has a unique offer designed to attract and entertain children. You will love watching kids have fun in these neat shops and you might have fun with them. Make sure no one is watching, of course. There are many other stores that offer something for children of all ages, be sure to check it out and see which shops you find interesting and which stores might be of interest to your children.

Remember that New York City has many beautiful parks that present a great opportunity for your children to get out, hang around, and spend hidden energy. I think it's very important that you schedule a serious garden time for your children when you visit New York to keep you all sane during those times so that they are not fully entertained and vulnerable to the thoughtful mind.

It is also important when traveling with very small children that you schedule a kind of quiet time for them during the day. Children are very vulnerable to sensory if they are not provided a quiet place to relax for a moment. Mid-afternoon is the right time to return to your room, refresh yourself, allow small children to rest a bit and parents and older children take a break from the noise and crowds too. Everyone will be much happier if you remember to schedule this very important break time when planning your day.
