Peaceful retreat in Catalina Island, California

When life stresses and tensions are too heavy for you, go to Catalina Island and you will find a peaceful retreat that will surely relax you in a short time. This island, only about 22 km physically from the mainland, but in terms of lifestyle and sheer population, the island is a lifetime. With only 2 ports on the island, one to the main city of Avalon, and the other to the side of the island that is more remote on Two Harbors, and only two roads to the island, through water or helicopters, there is very little noise from vehicles. Relatively few cars are on the island and most visitors walk by foot or bicycle.

Even though it's a small island, there are things to do here on days when you feel like doing something a little more energetic than watching the sun move, and when you first arrive on Catalina Island you should visit the local Chamber of Commerce & Bureau Visitors who will give you all the information you need about what's available, where to find it, and of course the idea of ??where to live and eat if you haven't made a reservation. But in the peak months, you should always book a room before going to the island. Even though you might be lucky to arrive and find a free room, it's not possible during high season because of the limited number of accommodations available.

The two most popular places to visit on Catalina Island are the Catalina Island Museum that maps the history of the island through various stages of more recent history through the Hollywood era (the island is one of the first major Hollywood film sets) right back to Native Americans. Only about 2 miles from Avalon, you will find the Wrigley Botanical Gardens which will delight anyone who has an interest in flora and fauna. William Wrigley (like in the kingdom of chewing gum) once owned an island and you could even live in a house that is now converted into a bed and breakfast.

Catalina Island may not sound very attractive when compared to tourist attractions in Los Angeles and San Francisco, but for anyone who wants to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life, it's a perfect beach oasis.
